Creating for an Audience
I was asked during my recent demonstration at the Addison Art Gallery's After Hopper Preview reception, if I found it difficult to paint in front of an audience. Honestly, no. There is a bit of pressure to perform, but I love the process of painting, and sharing that is a joy. Plus, I get the bonus of instant feed back. The audience input opens my eyes to new possibilities. My approach to painting is pretty loose and often starts with no plan or expectations. People are often surprised by that idea—that you can create a painting from nothing. Here is the result of two hours of painting plus a little studio time.
